Andrew Hague Musician and Composer

Andrew Hague is a composer of Music Theatre and Contemporary Church Music. He also directs a number of choirs.

Andrew trained as a music teacher during the 70's at Exeter University, before that he attended the Royal Marines School of Music and served in the Royal Marines Band.

Andrew developed an interest in arranging while he was in the Royal Marines and this continued when he started music teaching. He also became the musical director of a number of amateur Music Theatre Projects connected with the church.

In the 80's Andrew took a diploma in music technology and then began teaching specialising in this field in further education. He finished his teaching career as Course Manager for Music Technology with additonal responsibility for the music component of the Performance Studies course at Richard Huish College.

As a composer Andrew is particularly drawn to sacred music and the setting of scripture. He has written a significant body of hymns, sacred songs and anthems. He has contributed to several recordings of Christian music as an arranger, instrumentalist and producer.

Andrew writes lyrical and very singable music especially suited to choirs containing inexperienced singers.

Andrew's music ranges broadly in style from contemporary classical through to Rock, Jazz and Gospel.

Andrew lives in Uffculme and attends St Mary's church in the village. He is currently contemplating a Christmas Cantata.

Andrew plays keyboards and guitar.
